I have a pair of RTA 11t's that I picked up I'm trying to figure out what to do with. They just don't sound very good and I'm wondering if I should upgrade or just get rid of them. Could be my 1C' have me spoiled but the highs are kinda harsh and the bass is very diminished. The cabinet seal is very good so it can't be that. Is there something in the crossovers that is causing this or is this a common problem?

Fidelio X1's
A barely used set of Phillips Fidelio X1's.
Bought new in 14' and maybe have 10 hours total as I didnt/still don't have much time to sit and listen. These popped on everyone's radar back when @Assimilated first got his ears on them. http://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/comment/2016786#Comment_2016786
The reasons for sale are they sit idle, and Sennheiser 6xx's with BH Crack are my latest headphone experiment.
Includes everything from original purchase.(cord, cans, manual, box, reducer)

Can't find much for sales on the used market. Bought for $247...
If I'm way out of line, shoot me a PM.
I ship on Saturdays due to work hours.

Recommendation for turntable
Hello Guys,
Its been quite a while since i posted in this forum.
I have been away from audio nirvana for a while.
Planning to add a turntable to my setup.
I have Cary SLP05, Polk 707 connected with shot gun S3s powered by JC1s. My budget is around 600$.
Greatly appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.
Based on internet search Audio technica and U turn seems to be the good ones in that budget range. What you guys think?

Marantz CD6006 Cd player
Polkies,
Up for sale is my pristine Marantz CD6006. I bought this about a year ago brand new and it has been in my 2 channel rig since I have owned it. Awesome sounding, attractively priced CD player. I've upgraded to the SA8005 to consolidate my DAC/CD player. Let's make this easy and say 300 picked up or 300+ shipping CONUS (paypal F+F please).
It is still installed in my rig, so not many pictures, but rest assured it is pristine. I have the original box/manual/remote/power cord etc.
Thanks!
Zach

Used truck question
Question for the wrench turners here. Been keeping an eye out for a beater truck for the upcoming spring projects. Came across this '98 F150, 4.2 V6 with only 147K miles. Supposedly clean title. Pretty cheap @ $1900 OBO. Anything in particular to look out for? Is that a fairly reliable motor? TIA....

Are SW120's and SW121's interchangeable?
I've been in the middle of my 1C upgrade path and as a lot of you folks, looking for spare parts. Lot's of SW121's out there, but the SW120's are not as abundant. My 120's are fine, as I only had to do a minor surround repair. Thanks @f1nut and @westmassguy for your tutelage on that!
I've learned that the SW120's have at least 2 different variants. One with a thicker "cone" and one with a thin cone plus a weight on the Styrofoam piece on the backside.
Borrowed from @Mrbubbles2 post (2011) SW120 circa 1983. Thin cone plus weight:
![bvfcas3fo3td.png]()
![h5yzv5iaxfo3.png]()
I also have the same ones with the thinner cone and weight circa 1987:
![hwack204yz0k.jpg]()
![d82tiegzdzdt.jpg]()
Can I swap out the 120's with 121's if needed? Obvious question are the sonic differences significant? Newbie slack in affect here![ ]()
Or should I stay on course (wait for 120's) within the rabbit hole or am I veering into a ditch by snagging a set of 121's?
Please advise.

In love with capacitor coupled output sound
I have been bored lately, when that happens I tend pop out here ![:) :)]()
This time the story is, a while ago I got a Marantz 1060 from the mid 70s, sold a while after when I moved to a different home.
There is something euphoric on this amps, I very well know that is just distortion and coloration from a an early design being picked by my brain as a lush velvety sound I can listed for days. The true is that I have missed it to bits ever since.
So, recently I got another 1060 on that auction site. It’s very clean and 99% original, the volume pot which was replaced at some point but it serves the purpose and will be easy to source the original.
This 1060 sounds so cool to my hears to a point I don’t want to recapped. This is a nonsense but the trues is that I don't want to touch it. A recap will certainly change things a bit, maybe for better but that's not the goal in this case. I experienced a different flavor when I recapped the the bigger cousin 2270, especially after I hit the preamp-tone board.
So, I moved ahead and got second 1060, which I am planing to recap/upgrade and then AB with the original. I guess, I am steeping away of the upgrade idea. Many folks like to bump up power supply capacitance to increase reserve, better low frequency response and more headroom. Others don't it's controversial...
I do actually intend to keep the values close to original, with the exception of the main filter capacitor, I am bumping from 4700uf to 6800uf just because I found a Jensen 4 pole for half the price.
![96q8wtt4u2go.jpg]()
These for pole caps look a bit more tricky to wire but I understand that the + from rectifier goes to the "+ in," then the the amp board wire comes from "+ out." All the ground wires go to "-in," and the "- out" goes to that ground strap", seems easy.
The coupling caps will remain 3000uf (original) or 4700uf max because the physical size matches existing braces, planing to use Jensen here as well.
In addition to main filter and coupling, on the first approach, I will also replace all electrolytic on power supply board and all the local power supply filters, I have used Elna Silmic II on my 2270 but looking for something different and cool probably "Audio Note Kaisei lytics"... as they are inspired on the famous Black Gates, these are found in several pieces of Parasound gear and i dig that sound.
Sorry for any confusion I am typing on a foreign language...![:) :)]()
Any input or advice is welcome,

surroundbar 6000 subwoofer loses connection
I posted this is "subwoofers" and got replies, so I'll try it here
My Surroundbar 6000 is about two years old. It has worked well up until the past week or so.
The subwoofer appears to lose (wireless) connection at random. The indicator light goes to red or to flashing green. Sometimes powering the subwoofer off and on fixes it. Sometimes powering the sound bar off and on fixes it
I have not moved the positions of the sound bar or the subwoofer.
Any ideas?
If this has been answered, I apologize; please point me to it. I didn't find anything with a search of this forum.
Thanks

SRS 2s in a 15' x 25' room with a 38wpc tube amp?
I've been building out a room in my new home as mancave/music room. I got the basics of my system up and test out this morning. As was the prevailing prediction, unfortunately my CRSs really aren't up to the task. They sound as gorgeous as ever, but they just can't push the amount of air needed for a room this large and the bottom end just gets lost in the space.. Quite frankly, when I did the restoration on them, I never imagined that I'd have a room this big to put them in. So my maxed-out pimped-out 4.1TLs might be hitting the market soon.
Question is, what comes next? There's actually a pair of SRS 2s on CL here in Tampa, that would be too easy.
https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/ele/d/vintage-polk-speakers-sda-srs/6446432400.html
I think the price is high compared to where I've seen them sell, especially since I'm looking at SL2000s in the photos. But I've never had experience with SRS 2s, not sure if they're up for the task in a room this large either?
Also, they are blade/blade. I'm quite fond of my Dreadnought and the benefit it provides. Do I recall that the blade/blade SDAs can't use the AI-1?
And... I'm really not looking to change amp either. No idea if my tube amp is capable of pushing them. I've got the KT88/EL34-based VPI 299D. It handles the CRSs with ease. Depending which mode you run the triodes in, it puts out as much as 38 wpc. Those are "tube watts" which as we know get you far more bang for the buck than a solid state amp. But could an amp like this push SRS 2s?
Please give me the low down on the SRS 2's, I'm really not all that familiar with them. What's the upgrade path? Can they be TLed?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

So I bought a new 4k TV as well, so I'm looking for receiver that can do the 4k passthrough and wireless connection. What kind of price range am I looking at?
I saw so many cheap receiver on craglist such as the VSX-830-K, Pioneer Receiver VSX-830-K, ONKYO TX-NR616 7.2 Receiver etc, but I don't know which one works and which one doesn't, please help
