Portable headphones for a cell phone. Not earbuds. Wife has been working out like a demon but earbuds don't seem to stay in well. What is more a headphone style that would work with her cell phone. I'm not up on the headphone thing these days, especially for portable devices. Give me a few suggestions under 100 bucks. Appreciate it guys.

Karma: 10 pair Locking Banana Plugs
First one to claim them, they're yours.
Nakamichi branded, dual set screw. You are better off using WBT or similar crimp sleeves with these, but larger wire or creative folding of the wire would probably be fine too.

Modded RTi8's vs RTiA9's
I have been considering getting the A9's to replace my modded 8's. The 8's have a rebuilt crossover using Sonicap caps and Mills resistors and have performed great for the last 6 or so years. They are powered by an Adcom 555. I have two Klipsch Ref 12" subs and my receiver is a Yamaha Aventage 1060.
The wife likes to really crank it when she works out and really pushes the 8's to their limits....
Would there be a big difference in db's?
Would the 555 power them ok? I was thinking about getting another 555 and running each in mono (or is that overkill).
I also have an Adcom 545ii and could get another one (2 channels per speaker) in lieu of the 555.
Thoughts?

Power cord - Pepster 3 ft XLO
I've got one of Pepster's XLO power cords in 3 ft length, original owner and in perfect condition. This was placed in my now-defunct home theater on my Anthem AVR and never moved. I believed he used 12 gauge XLO cable on his PC's.

Now, I understand
Why people say, “sell everything and buy new stuff when you get there” in regards to moving.
We are surrounded by boxes so numerous I cannot even begin to fathom how they will fit into the new apartment in St. Louis which is 200 sq. ft. smaller than the apartment we’re in now.
The next time we move, if it can be boxed up and shipped via FedEx or UPS then that’s how it will make it’s way to the new place. Otherwise, everything will be sold, donated, or adding to the landfills.
I’m moving smarter next time, for sure!

MIT Tmax Super Speaker Modules
***My apologies if this appears as a duplicate posting***
Through a random search on eBay for MIT products, I found and purchased these Music Interface Technologies (MIT) Super Speaker Modules. The set was $100USD shipped, so I took a chance. Note that these are directional, in that, one pair is labeled 'Amp', and the other pair labeled 'Speaker', so they should be connected accordingly.
![7x3n2m9df5hy.jpg]()
They require using MIT iconn connectors on the ends of the module wires, so I got a pair of spades for the amp end, and banana plugs for the speaker end. These basically screw on to the threaded module tips.
![myvglxft5f9d.jpg]()
The modules are connected between amp and speaker via RG59 coaxial cable, so I went with Belden 1505A RF cables from Blue Jeans Cable. You can see my previous speaker cables on the floor - 12AWG Monoprice copper strand cables![:o :o]()

So the sound...it is improved
There's more air around the instruments, and I can pick-up more nuances of the player's technique - strumming, picking, bows across strings. Decays of cymbals and strings last longer. Everything is a bit crisper. [My wife used the term 'crisper' as well without me even saying it.]
I have to say, for the money spent - $100 for the modules, $65 for the iconn connectors, and $41 for the cables - it's a good investment. And it gives me a taste of the how the upper-echelon MIT speaker cables with more articulation points must sound. I confess...although I understand the theory of articulation points, I don't understand how it can be designed and built into those little black boxes. Whether I understand the physics or not, I can say that my ears understand, and it sounds better to them
The modules in this system have 4 articulation points, but the Shotgun and higher MIT speaker system cables have a couple dozen articulation points ![:o :o]()
Other equipment used: Logitech SBT -> Peachtree Audio novaPre hybrid w/DAC -> Eastern Electric MiniMax BBA -> McCormack DNA-125 -> Infinity RSIIIa speakers
Color me impressed...or enlightened.

RIP PS3...hello OPPO UDP203
After a bit over 9 years as my Blu Ray player, my trusty PS3 finally succumbed to old age and retired. You served me well dear PS3!
Last night, I welcomed the OPPO UDP203 and I have to say...what the heck took me so long! Quite a noticeable difference over that PS3. Picture quality is outstanding on my circa late 2008 Panny Plasma.
The OPPO is a winner!

Found some old TT parts
I found this in a box from my dad.
I would be interested in knowing if Anyone has any experience with these cartridges.
I really have no idea about TT parts and do not use a TT so any input is appreciated

Gluing magnets?
Hi y’all, someone here recently posted a thread about gluing magnets on their speakers. Though, they stated they were gluing them before playing the speakers- like not for drivers that were about to be shipped somewhere. I’ve heard about magnet shift before. My question is: can magnets shift just under normal playing conditions? Thanks

No, it's not cheap, yes it's a bit complicated to build however, you'll never need another headphone amp - ever.

Polk S20's
I decided to pick up a set of S20's for my basement/ workshop...
I'm not going to go into too much detail since they are basically a background speaker for me when I'm getting stuff done, but I did take some time with them.
To me, they are standard Polk. Don't have a ton of musical detail and soundstage presence and have an overly inflated bottom end that make them sound like they are trying too hard. But for a workshop, they will do fine.
I was getting frustrated with the overly emphasized bottom end and I decided to remove the "power port" on the back of the speakers to see of that calmed them down a bit. It did balance them a bit more.
Far better balance and it took away some of the "boomy" aspects of the speaker. Still a bit heavy on the bottom end for me, I like a properly balanced speaker, but much better.
I use an old Marantz receiver for power and my iPhone as a source (ALAC rips). I might bring them up to the HT for a tour, just to see how they stack up the to the Focal's...

Hooking up vintage M10a xovers with RDO 0194 and 6500 midwoofers.
Hello,
The big caps look not very good and need to be replaced
I´m not shure if the Mids 6500 are the original match to this crossovers.
my question is if I should use theese crossovers as they are or I should change any of the capacitor´s and resistor´s values due to the new tweeters also.
Thank you.
