SRS SDA excursion difference?!?

I was listening to some music at relatively high levels (just below polyswitch kick out ;o) ) and noticed that the Right channel had a different/odd excursion that was much more "intense" than the left channel. This is only obvious at HIGH volumes.

The amp is new , the pre-amp is new and the speakers are not under powered etc.
Amp: Emotiva XPA2 gen3 (300w/channel 8 ohms)
Pre: Marantz AV 8802a

My first thought was that the speaker was "out of phase" but I don't have the balls to switch the speaker leads to find out...Not knowing what would happen with the interconnect if I did so?!?
--> What would happen if I switched speaker lead?!?

It almost looks as though the speakers are "sucking in" instead of throwing out when you would expect them to be throwing out (if that makes sense).

My perception is the left channel also sounds better!.

Any thoughts on what this may be?

I'll start off by saying I'm fairly cheap. I fully well understand and accept the fact that higher quality cabling makes a difference. I just can't bring myself to spend hundreds to thousands of $$$ on interconnect & speaker cables. I use Blue Jean Cable RCA's because I can hear the difference and still afford the quality. Furez cable splitters & copper banana connectors from Douglas Connections. But when it comes to speaker cabling I buy Belden 5T00UP 10 AWG in a 500' box and use it for in-wall & external speaker connections and make my own cables to the lengths I want. What I'd like to find is a good, flexible, colored, braided sleeve that I can put the 10 AWG speaker cables in for a more finished & professional look and more WAF, which has become an issue recently. I would probably finish the ends off with some shrink sleeve. Who out there in Polk Land is doing this and has a good lead on braided sleeve? Thanks

Hi,

A few months ago I purchased a CSi A6 center channel speaker to pair with my RTIA5 towers. I recently purchased a pair of RTIA3’s to finish off my set. When I ran my microphone setup after hooking up my 3’s my CSi A6 hasn’t been the same. My receiver used to always set the crossover to around the 60 mark (for the CSi A6), but now it will always set it to 180-200. It lacks all its punch it once had when I first bought it (even if I manually set the crossover back down to 60-70 it would always previously be.)

Contacted Polk, they figured the crossover inside the speaker had gone bad and sent me a replacement crossover. I received the new crossover and replaced it, but the issue still remains. No punch, lacks mids and overall just quieter than when I first purchased the speaker.

So my question is, is it the two 6.5” drivers in the CSi A6? Do they need to be replaced?

My receiver is the Onkyo TX-RZ810. I tested my older and much smaller center speaker the CSi A6 replaced and the receiver sets the crossover for that one at 100-120 (which it has always been around, even on past receivers.) With my old one testing “normal” that leads me to believe it is in fact the two 6.5” drivers.

If anyone has any ideas to help me figure this out, it would be very much appreciated.

Side note, I’ve emailed Polk back THREE times now about getting two new replacement 6.5” drivers (as I’m still well within my warranty) and those emails have been ignored so far.

here's a smoked brisket recipe I found i'm going to try next brisket cook.



BluDawgs Brisket

K.I S.S. some of the best brisket you will ever eat! Total cook time including the rest 8 hrs or less. I promise it will be as moist as mornin dew on the lilly, tender as a mothers love, pure beefy smoky goodness.

1 packer 12-15 lb
Trim off the hard fat on each side of the flat thin the fat cap to 1/4"

Mix your Rub
1 part kosher salt 4 parts Med grind Black peppa by volume( this is a true 50/50 BY weight)
apply a coat of rub you need to be able to see the meat through the rub clearly.

Pre heat the pit to 300 deg
place brisket on the pit Fat Cap Down and point to the firebox unless it is a RF cooker then point to away from FB

Maintain pit between 275-325 if cookin on a stick burner
cook Brisket 4 hrs
remove from pit wrap in a single layer of Butcher paper Return to pit Fat cap up.
after 1 hr probe the thicket part of the Flat only! If it isn't *probe tender it should be within 1 hr.
once it is probe tender remove from the pit keep it wrapped in the paper you cooked it in and allow it to rest on your counter until the Internal temp reaches 150 this will take about two hrs.
Don't ever slice more than you can eat big pieces retain moisture and won't dry up on you like slices will.
*PROBE TENDER>This is the feel that is mimicked by cutting room temperature butter with a hot knife, there should be no drag

The guy I have lined up to buy this pair of SDA SRS 2's wants the fronts to be “blonde”. “So the drivers really stand out.” Has anyone ever veneered the face of these cabinets? I’m leery - afraid it’s gonna look weird... thoughts?? Examples? Both good and bad? Thanks!

Haven't seen anything new from anyone in the beer department?!? Have we all gone soft and fallen victim to the pinky-up, wining?

So, where is everyone in their quest to drink every beer on the planet? I recently went out on a whim and bought a 1/4 barrel of Founders All Day IPA out of Michigan. Fantastic! I had only heard of the brewery but had never tried anything by them. Looked them up in the keg catalog at the local **** and put in my request. Had the keg 1 week later. It's a little on the light side but definitely an easy, safe beer that most will enjoy.

Just looking to see if the hobby of "beer-ing" still exists around here. I'm in a beer club now and have had approximately, 160 different types of been in the last 12 months plus whatever i buy for myself at home. AWESOME!

Also have bottles of Wachusett Nut Brown Ale, Back Bay IPA, and something I was hesitant to buy but did anyway due to never having one is Killians Stout.

I am the one and only owner of this great entry into the world of standalone DACs and was so sure I was going to keep it forever that I threw away the original box.
