Cool and cheap component stands

From Monoprice, I bought one so that I wouldn't have to stack my two LPS's on top of my power conditioner. $32.99 shipped and I am super impressed.
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24795&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtP_iBRDGARIsAEWJA8iCIc2i4grIfocGR32_NCD6IDzmEbVNK9tj2PhH8yW_kJWB9ePFfpAaAg4EEALw_wcB
You can stack these and have about 4 and 3/4" , maybe 5" of clearance. Mine is shown without the spikes which, if stacked, fit into the receptacles of the bottom one. I've got about 4 and 1/4" clearance without spikes.wixx9vtsykuh.jpg

Offering up my front stage due to the itch to try something new. Concerned about regrets as these things are fantastic. No issues with condition, only six months of use in a single location for the towers. Center has only been used for 1 month. I have all of the packaging but I'd rather not ship as honestly the boxes aren't very sturdy.

Local pickup only for now, Springfield, Illinois. 62704. 1.5 hours from St. Louis, 3 hours or so from Chicago.

Priced at $1,500 for the trio, firm. If they don't sell at that price I'll gladly set them aside for future use. I also have a pair of LSiFX in good condition for an additional $250 if so desired.

Thanks!

This is the original version with fewer features than the current Sprout100, but the price of these older units should continue to drop, so keep your eyes open for a bargain.

I've had my eye on these little units for quite awhile, and finally popped on one.

Basically, this is a mini integrated amp with analog, DAC, and MM Phono input...also has BlueTooth for streaming from smartphone or tablet. Speaker output is 33WPC>8 ohms, and 50WPC>4 ohms...also has a big headphone socket.

Tonight, I paired it via BT with my smartphone, and started it driving a pair of Baby Advent II speakers...for what it was - a great combination spilling lots of detail. Then I pulled-out a pair of KLH Model Twenty speakers, which are actually 4 ohm speakers.

M5 Series 2 Recap Question

Hi All,
Just picked up a pair of these circa 1991 M5's. They're in good shape but the tweeters are pretty weak. Will do the upgrade on those, and I'm looking into doing a recap as well. The question is, the little 2" hole for the crossover is a tad small for fitting 3 new Sonicraft caps. I'm not even sure if I can combine the 12 uf and 8 uf caps, but even so, the 34 uf cap is dang near 2" in diameter. Any ideas from anybody who has done one of these would be greatly appreciated. Pics to come shortly!

From 2.0 to 9.2. Who can provide?

Since there is no HT thread I though this might be a starting point for info.

I currently run a Yamaha RX-A1050 7.2 with Atmos and DTS X.
I'm having a hard time finding Atmos and DTS X pre amps at affordable prices. Anyone know of any? Would like to get away from a HTR for a pre. But dont want to give up Atmos and X. Nor do I want to spend $3k. $1k at most.

I was looking at Outlaw and Emotiva but no such luck as of yet.

Cables for Optimizing my Two Channel Setup.

One area I will be addressing is having my turntable professionally calibrated and set up to ensure I am getting the most from it, but beyond that, I have reached a place that is the end of the road for upgrades and the days of looking for that next move are behind me. I am completely happy with the Pass Labs stack, turntable and of course, my amplifiers.

One area I may make a move later on is with my speakers, but that is so far down the road, and whatever I get would have such a high standard to meet that I have yet to find them. That leaves cables... Let me pause here and say if you cannot accept the premise that cables have a synergistic fit to a system that can make for dramatic improvement in the overall performance of a high end audio setup, do not post here. Your comments are not required.

I have been very happy with the Douglas Connection cables I have been using, but have decided to take full advantage of the XLR connections that all my gear now has and wish to upgrade. Currently, I am using AudioQuest Forest XLR and they are good, but feel I can do better. I am looking at MIT, but do not want to spend thousands on cables, especially when that money could be used to move up the chain in the Pass family. I am a newb to XLR connections and do not have much knowlege of the different types of cables within this subset of cables.

My length requirements are two sets of 1 meter, one set at 1.5/2 meter for the XLR, a set of 12 foot Bi-Wire speaker cables, 1 set of 1 meter RCA and 1 set of 3 meter RCA to connect the amplifiers to the preamp.

Thanks for any input and advice.

Non-Jesse approved Bi-amping

So yes, as I mentioned in another thread, I just picked up my second pair of Linn monoblocks. Beautiful little power houses these are and I had asked my dealer to try and get two more for me. He came through. These are built like tanks

So I have been reading a ton on this and have come to the conclusion (because of the deal I got on these and I already had a pair to begin with) that Bi-amping is something I am subscribing to. Please understand that I recognize that folks who get their receiver and use the built in feature for bi-amping are really not getting anything at all mainly because it’s being fed from the same power supply. I also recognize that if someone uses bi-amping to double output, that’s not the way to do it either. For me it was all about a reduction in intermodulation distortion. And having separate power supply’s for the two sections of my lsim705’s has done (as I listen) exactly as I had hoped.

Listening to Hotel California in 24/192 wav the snare has such an impact and decay that was not missing before but no where as pronounced as it is now. As I dive back into Dskips list, the Little Drummer boy shows much more definition in the highest notes and decays beautifully.

I am still going through my tracks as I normally do after a change and assessing the differences. Will post more as I learn more.

My polk audio magnifi one 240w sound bar with wireless subwoofer BROKE!!!

Hi,
I live in Mongolia. And bought "polk audio magnifi one 240w sound bar with wireless subwoofer" on
Order Number: A2019011309281042718
Order Date: 01/13/2019
Model: Magnifi One x System
Serial Number: AM8114091844787
from Adorama website.
When it came to Mongolia after days off shipping on 01/29/2019 i picked up the package to setup it wouldn't work. After plugging out/in "power" and push the reset button it finally worked. That wasn't a big deal, I was glad that it worked. "fwew no shipping damage luckily i thought"

After that it worked fine. Sometimes when I connect my phone or notebook with bluethooth it sounded ridiculous, very very bad. What i mean with bad mean is very very cracking sound, like damaged soundbar. I thought it was an issue with the bluethooth device on the soundbar. Sometimes it was ok.
But yesterday night on 1/27/2019 2.30am in the middle of the night it made "some weird noise came two times from the soundbar" like something fell on the floor I thought. The Soundbar was turned off but was plugged into the wall. "had electricity"
I got up because of the noise saw to my tv "thats where my soundbar was" no light was coming out of the soundbar for safety I unplugged "electricity" the device slept. Tomorrow morning I got up plugged the soundbar it was dead. I attached a picture please see " it smells something like burned cables"
No lights no nothing. But the subwoofer has lights. I guess it's ok.

Like I said above I don't live in the States, shipping was very very expensive. I thought Polk American Brand "very good" saw reviews was good that was the reason why I bought,
but I'm very upset now with this product that it worked only almost a month :(
I paid for the shipment 90$ us dollars "from US to mongolia" if I ship it back to the US it would cost me "arround ~260$ us dollars" I'm very very upset and sad :((((

I have registered my product on your website but unfortunately I can not find it.
What should I do??? please help give me any advice
Thank you for the answer

LSiM 707 upgrade from RTi A7?

$

Hi guys, Best Buy in Canada is offering the LSiM at a very attractive price so it got me tempted to buy a pair to upgrade over my current set up. I don't see any sales at all for matching surrounds nor the center speaker (also don't really have that much money to upgrade all at once). My question is, if I only switch out my RTiA7 out for the LSiM 707 for now, while leaving all my other pieces in tact, would my sound still be acceptable or will everything be really off on movies because they don't timbre match? Would love all advice and help from all you experts!

Here is what I am using in my setup right now:
Subwoofer: SVS PB-1000 10-inch 300 Watt Powered Subwoofer
Front Speakers: Polk Audio RTiA7 300-Watt Tower Speaker
Centre Speaker: Polk Audio CSiA6 200-Watt Centre Channel Speaker
Surround Speakers: Polk Audio RTiA1 125-Watt Bookshelf Speakers
Surround Back Speakers: Polk Audio T300 100-Watt Bookshelf Speakers
Dolby Atmos-enabled Speakers Front: Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-140SA Atmos Elevation Module
Dolby Atmos-enabled Speakers Rear: Pioneer SP-T22A-LR Add-On Enabled Speakers for Dolby Atmos
Receiver: Yamaha RX-A3060
Power Amplifier: Speakercraft SC2-50 Two Channel, High Current Power Amp; 2 x 50W; 225W Bridged; Multivoltage (currently used for my rear Pioneer Atmos speakers in a 7.1.4 setup)

I am running my little Ushers N-6361's a Polk CS20 off of a Yamaha RX-A1040. I have the Yamaha set to run 4 ohm speakers for the Ushers. The CS20 is 8 ohms, does this present a problem?

This is the I'm a dumbass and sold the wrong player thread. Looking for either a blu ray universal or a cd/sacd player. Wanting to stay in the couple hundred dollar range. Would prefer the blu ray universal. Must have RCA outs.

WTB cheap :) working HDCD-compatible CD player

I have a fair number of "HDCD" CDs but not a single player that can play HDCDs as such. I'd like to hear some HDCD CDs as HDCD; so I am looking for such a player.
It needs to be working and it needs to be cheap (including shipping, which I realize isn't particularly cheap any more!).

Let me know by PM if you have one that you'd be interesting in selling and your asking price.
Hoping to do business with a well established Polk Forums denizen (i.e., no newbies, please).

Thanks for your consideration!

Any owner updates on Carver Crimson 275 stereo tube power amplifier for 2019?

I was musing this morning as I waited for the caffeine to kick in :)

There was a flurry of interest in this interesting stereo power amp before The Holidays (spurred on by an attractive sale price!), but I haven't seen much chatter about them since.

Any of all y'all that bought one -- what's your assessment/impression of it a few months into the mission?

Thanks!

I knew I shouldn't but I couldn't help my self. My most recent find... A beautiful pair of Monitor 5B from 1989. These things are near perfect cosmetically and functionally. They do have polyswitches and could use XO refresh/upgrade, not to mention RDO.

I bought both of these models new and they served me well with flawless performance. However, they aren't being used and so need a new home. Perfect for surround sound listening and an inexpensive way to check out the whole experience. Manuals, remotes, audio setup mic all there in the original box and no scratches, dings etc. . No pets, kids or smoking in da crib. I can ship but local pickup, meetup maybe even delivery would be great. Either zip 20782 or 19971. Pricing a bit difficult so let's try $175 for the Pioneer and $125 for the Yamaha plus actual shipping costs if needed. I think the easiest way to communicate is to direct email me at jhw59 at hotmail.com. You should be able to google both models for more info or ask me. Paypal (friends and family preferred) or USPS money order. Cash if local transaction.

Plenty of ++ feedback on ebay and the Hoffman forum under jhw59

Thanks for looking!

Polk RTi A9 modifications?

$

I’ve decided to do a shoot-out between the highly regarded Polk RTi A9s and my $50,000 Snell A7 Illusions. I will require someone who is proficient with modifying loudspeakers, particularly the crossovers, however I don’t recommend changing the values or drivers unless there is an engineer who frequents these forums that can say otherwise.

Here’s what I would like to do:

Polish the RTi A9 cabinets to a mirror shine (I’ve seen a few others achieve this with their RTi A7s, and the results are exquisite), replace the existing speaker terminals with WBT-style (similar to what Polk did for the LSiM 707s), replace crossover parts like the capacitors with Jantzen or something of similar quality, use thicker wiring on the inside, as well as acoustic isolation spikes.

Also, which service do you recommend for these improvements? Money is no object. For this demonstration, I’ll be using a brand-new McIntosh MC462 and C70.
