Lumin U1 Mini

Received and installed today...

Simple install, ROON found it and was listening in no time....like less than 5 minutes.

Using SPDIF coax connection but there are other options that I might experiment with between the Lumin and the Brooklyn DAC+.

First impression is that it is much quieter than using USB from computer to DAC.
Very tight accurate bass.
Vocals and soundstage sound incredible. I am sure it needs a little time to settle in.

It sure is a fine looking unit.

Can I put EE MiniMax pre amp on top of a Polk SDA 2B speaker?

Siilly question I know - but I just got my new-to-me McCormack DNA .5 Deluxe amp and Eastern Electric MiniMax pre amp set up yesterday and need to get a new rack or media console to fit everything. Yesterday I just put the MiniMax pre on the floor to one front side of my TV stand (amp is on bottom shelf of the stand). The pre is quite small (hence the name "MiniMax"). It is approx. 12" long and 4.5" deep and weighs only approx. 10lbs. I am thinking of putting it on top of one of my Polk SDA 2BTL speakers until I can get a new space for it as it would fit nicely there. Would it harm the speaker in any way if I did so (in terms of weight or electronic interference or anything)? Thanks. BTW, I am loving the sound of the McCormack amp/MiniMax pre combo. The sound is so musical - neither warm nor bright, just very alive and detailed and musical. I played all types of music and, on certain CDs (Ommart Liebert, North African Rhythm world music CD) the SDA effect and soundstage were just amazing.

Sonore microrendu renderer with ifi ipower 9v 2.0 amp power supply. Connect it to your network and play files from your pc via dlna to a usb cable to your dac. I use jriver and a phone app to manage playlists , imports, ect. Very nice way to get great sound. New was $675 for the micro and $50 for the power supply. Firmware 2.5 upgrade done. Does Roon, spotify and tons more.
Upgraded to the Ultrarendu so need to move this along now.

R50 help

I just brought a pair of R50 towers online and I am looking for some experience feedback on these. I plan to use them at my parents home to upgrade their HT system in the family room (serious Mom factor). I gave them some old Pioneer Sats a few years back to replace some old Awia fronts and center (bookshelf size) that was part of a HT inthebox setup I got them back in the 90's. Over the years I have been slowly replacing each piece and trying to match up brands to cut down on remote roulette. After their old 55"Mit's died from a power outage, I went with Samsung theme for them Starting with a 55" plasma (last year they made them), a couple of Samsung blu ray players for both the family room and master bedroom. I found a Samsung AVR HW C700 that completed the setup and each device worked off one remote. I gave them a more powerful sub to replace the smaller Monoprice one I got them a year ago and it fills the room much better. I wish I had this room in my home, its about 15W x 25L, it has 2 levels the main floor is 15W x 15L with the upper level taking up the last 8-10 feet. When this addition was added to the house back in the 70's I was in high school and home theater was not even a twinkle in anyone's eye. And my parents are in their 80's now so the room is only used for bible studys and holidays. My mom has it setup to have people face each other and not have the TV as the main focus of the room, so the mom factor is major!

I think the R50's would work well in this room (thick carpet, thick drapies and 2 large couches and lazyboy chair to knock out much of any reflection of sound), I am looking for a nice center now, but it needs to be thin (bar type) to fit under the TV (4" gap height) any ideas would be welcomed. I'll post a picture of the room by Friday when I drop off the speakers.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. This thread is dedicated to....well, read the title. Pretty self explanatory.

Today, I measured the distance of the subs/speakers to the listening position down to 1/8 of an inch including the toe in and will be messing around with dialing in the Rythmik F-25's.

What have you done for your rig today?

First off hello to old friends and gurus sorry for having been away so long. Life has been a roller coaster. Recently one of my RDO198s turned up dead. I ordered a new one...but just want to confirm the smaller red ear goes to the black wire and the bigger non colored ear goes to the white wire correct?

If I got that wrong from the first time out....then would that explain why I somehow killed it?
I'd like to figure out how this happened I use fast blow fuses.

Again hello to everyone and im glad to be back. I look forward to tweeking my crossovers again soon.

College Athletics Rant

So I saw where the first woman was offered a "non kicker" football scholorship (sorry kickers!)...so good for her. But then I started thinking about the hypocrisy of major college athletics and how football and basketball all revolve under the guise of competirion and building better human beings...when it all comes down to the almighty dollar. Look at Kentucky basketball...most of those kids dont stick around for four years, and ever earn a degree. You see kids recruited from Sweeden or Eqypt who never would have attended a school like Kansas until the university went out and found that kid. I dunno....people who say ' I only follow college football because ....' are only kidding themselves. The NCAA has just done a better job of masking the hypocrisy than the NFL....which, if you think about it....the NFL doesnt pretend to be doing anything else than selling pro football to fans. Lastly...you have kids in other sports such as swimming which, if lucky, get a 1/3 of a scholorship and work just as hard as the "headcount sport" athletes...but back to that almighty dollar I suppose. I say all of this as Im on day 4 of a big swim meet in Knoxville....waiting for Sunday night finals. End of rant. 🖖

Audiquest Bedrock 8 ft pair bi wire w spades

I am selling my Audiquest Bedrock speaker cables. This is an 8 foot bi wire pair with nice spades. You can use it for single wire but putting the spades under one post. The Bedrock was part of AQ Flatrock series uses PCS and LGC in a Double Quad Helix design. I am a fan of their older speaker cables and iCs. like the Bedrock I find much of the newer stuff to be slightly brighter to my ears. In real nice shape asking $169 Thanks

So I have had these for a little while now, maybe under 6 months, and already have the bug. I’m sure if you follow the forum, you’ll see why I am selling. At this time although I have 2 pairs, I will only be selling one pair.
They are flawless. Powerful. And very high quality.
They sold for $1200 each when new and still hold their own with today’s newer amps. They have been recapped about 8 years ago by Linn. They were purchased used from a Linn dealer here in Atlanta. I currently have two running my Elacs, and only at ear bleeding levels (which I like) do they seem to run out of steam. They are rated at 125wpc into 8ohms and 240wpc into 4
They will need “Z” type Bananas as they have the post in the middle of the speaker connector.
Again, I’m only selling as I probably will never need an additional pair. I’m keeping the other two and I want them for a later in life two channel setup when one of the kids move out.

I would like to get what I have in them because I got them at a great deal. $800 for the pair plus shipping. I will box them up right (ask anyone who has gotten anything from me, I ship very responsibly)
