Should get rid of the madness amount of cables I own and don't use.

Hello everyone,
I have had a wire issue for many years. I've sold off a lot of it but I still have tons more. I look at all of it and think maybe one day I'll need those interconnects or what have you only to have them sit in bins for years with no one using them.
So I'm not gonna list my stuff but rather have you guys if your in the market for used cables in great shape ask me if I have what your looking for. Chances I will have something for you.
I figured having all these cables is doing me no good or anyone else.

Healing thoughts/prayers needed for my Mum

Hi folks, my Mum who is 77 y.o recently had a nasty fall and hit her head on the corner of a wall which knocked her out and required stitches. It appears the fall caused her dental problems which will require expensive dectal surgery to fix. The fall has also caused Mum to have intermittent problems with her equilibrium, so she is afraid of having another fall. Her thoughts also become a bit jumbled at times & she forgets what she was thinking of. This seems to have been triggered by the accident. She has had a CAT scan and examination by Doctors at the Eye & Ear hospital to eliminate any inner ear issue, but so far we don't know what is causing the symptoms she is experiencing. She is managing mild to moderate cardio hypertension & is seeing a Cardio specialist in the next 4-6 weeks to rule out anything cardio issues. She also suffers from Scleroderma and Raynaud's disease which doesn't help.

Anyway, I visited Mum tonight and she seemed diown in the dumps. Any prayers or healing thoughts from the folks here would be very appreciated. God is amazing, so I know if enough people ask, she will be healed.

I QUIT!

Smoking that is...or at least trying. 28 years of it and I need to stop. Been 48 hours since the last one (big whoop...2 days) but I'm trying! Been smoking some of the strongest cigarettes you can buy up here in Canada and time to quit, wish me luck!

As a side note...tonight's dinner tastes a bit better than the usual.

Is it OK to use different length speaker cables?

Since changing the arrangement of my listening space and equipment a few months ago, my speakers are no longer the same distance from my amp.The left speaker now needs a 23-25 ft cable, where the right one needs a 13-15 ft cable.

I have been using two 25 ft lengths of some generic 12 gauge wire I had in the spare cable box, but it's time to replace them with something better. I don't like having all that extra wire on the right speaker, plus I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea to coil the extra cable. My question is, would/could using different length speaker cables cause any ill effects? I've always wondered this, plus my OCD has always made me feel like both cables must be the same length. :# :)

Any advise would be greatly appreciated before I make or order a new pair of cables...

Power Conditioner - Who's using one? Which one? Did it help your sound?

So my rig hasn't changed in 3-4 years (see my sig). I was thinking of changing my amp. It's an Aragon 8008 Mk II. So I googled reviews of it which reminded me that it's a pretty good amp, so maybe I should keep it. Had been perusing Mac, Pass, and Bryston. Solid state.

Anyways, during my research I stumbled across some dude saying that a power conditioner made a big improvement in his system. Naturally I take such claims with a grain of salt, but the rationale seems logical (dirty power, peak current, etc). Currently I'm just using a Belkin plug strip. All components plug into it. I can't plug my amp into the wall by itself and I'm not going to put in a dedicated 20 amp line or anything. For power conditioner I've been looking at the Furman Elite-15 PFi. At $700 it's a lot cheaper than an amp. I know you can go a lot higher, and a little lower. But I like the features for the price.

So my question for you guys is whether you're using a power conditioner and if so, which one? Did it help your sound? Etc.

Thanks,
Jet

Decorative absorption?

My new house theater/listening room is empty right now. The room is roughly 13.5' wide by 19.5 deep with a ceiling that slopes from 8' in front (where I am putting heavy drapes over the windows) to 17' or so in the rear. The floor is hardwood laminate where I have one area rug so far. The room is boomy as hell. My ol lady agreed that I can put some absorption panels on the side walls and ceiling if need be but she wants them to be "pretty" or something like that. Anyway, I got this idea of buying canvases, ya know the blank canvas stretched over wood frames(with the void in back stuffed with something appropriate) that you oil paint on and figuring out how to get prints to stick on them or actual acoustic panels that I could mount prints on. If anyone has ideas or experience let me know.

Great little setup here folks. First time I heard these I was pretty blown away by how big and clear they sounded despite being very small. Makes a great setup especially in a smaller room, but I have been running them in my large living room with a good sub (SVS PB10-NSD) and they fill the room without issue. I really agree with @Upstatemax here: http://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/comment/2011109#Comment_2011109

They have the brackets, and besides few very small smudges, the only flaw is a very small hole in one grill (pictured).

I will let these go for $215 shipped, via FedEx ground fully insured. CONUS only, unless you want to pay extra for shipping.

PayPal as gift or bank transfer, or cover the fees please. Other forms of payment possible if you are known.

Thought I would start a thread on SVS subs. There is enough talk around here about them. Heck this forum is why I bought mine. Could be fun! What do you have? Size of room? What do you run your gain at? Eq maybe? Anything goes... These are examples of course. Let's talk some serious subs!

stacking speakers of two different channel.

I have two front speakers, TSx330T in front. And I stacked two TSx220B(Bookshelf) on the top of two TSx330T each. Of course, TSx330T is in front channel and TSx220B is in surround channel. Yamaha receiver supporting vertical surround system in spite of the surround speaker is in front. Is there any interruption between those two front speakers and surround speakers?

Picked up a Mythos 5 set up this morning from a yard sale for $150 and someone has painted over the aluminum finish .... wth?
I'm going to Google it but any advice from fourm members on removing the paint without dulling the aluminum finish would be appreciated I have no clue on the type of paint used and I hope they did not rough up the surface before applying that crap.

Polk - Rear Speakers Options

$

This is my first posting and I'm hoping to get some feedback. My current set up is:

Fronts: Rti A3
Center: Csi A6
Back: Rti4

Our living room is not all that big so I'm finding that the rear speakers size to be a bit too big (actual depth of the speaker that protrudes from the wall). I've had someone suggest using the OWM5's for rears instead.

Has anyone owned/heard these? Thoughts on if these would be a good option?

Thanks in advance!

Newbie to audiophile world. Still learning. Have had a PSW 505 for years. Recently moved from condo where I can start to stretch its legs some. Been reading reviews. Not all great. I've always been happy.

What are its limitations? Why upgrade? What will a better sub do/ sound like?

Thanks in advance!

I have owned Polks from the original Monitor series (7 and 10). I am considering upgrading to the LS70 or LS90. How does the LS series compare to the original Monitors? I would really appreciate any feedback, opinions or suggestions. Cheers

2.3 TL Blackhole 5 placement

$

New to the forum and I'm ready to do some mods to my 2.3 TL's. I've got a set of Larry's rings, Dynamat, Armacell, Loctite power grab, and Blackhole 5, and planning on doing the work this weekend. My question is on the Blackhole 5 placement. I understand placing a 3 inch wide strip behind the 4 MW's from the top speaker to the bottom one, but on the 2 SDA effect speakers should I place a full strip the same length as one behind MW's or one just long enough to go from top to bottom of the 2 speakers. Also should there be a strip on the side and if so how long
